Getting older comes with enough problems already. Your libido shouldn’t be one of them.
What’s a Libido?
Our libido is basically referring to our sex drive or our overall desire for sexual activity
Sex drive and libido are fairly synonymous and used interchangeably in any literature.
No one really talks about their libido when they’re younger. That’s probably because, at that time, it’s not causing any problems for people.
As we get older though, we start to hear more about it. We may even be concerned that ours isn’t quite what it used to be like when we were in our 20’s. The raging hormones from our 20’s tend to be less raging as we creep into our 40s-50s-60s and so on.
Have no fear. They didn’t disappear.
Chances are you’re just not nourishing your hormones and sex drive like you used to.
What Lowers Our Libido?
Unfortunately, there’s a lot. The good news is, you can prevent it from dropping off too fast.
The 3 biggest factors I’ve seen in men that kill their libido are lack of exercise, poor diet, and constant high stress.
Several studies have been done that show a direct correlation of high testosterone equating to higher libido. “Duh, Noah.” Don’t ‘duh’ me if you’re not taking care of your natural testosterone then.
The one factor out of our control is aging. Stop focusing on anti-aging and start working on nourishing the natural testosterone that you have before you start losing it due to aging.
As we age our testosterone levels will naturally drop. Researchers claim that by our 40’s 10% of us will experience some type of sexual dysfunction. That number rises to 80% by the time we’re in our 70’s! (1)
Make sure you’re getting adequate exercise, cleaning up your diet, and lowering your stress levels.
Easier said than done, right? I know, but I believe in you.
Little Exercise, Little Libido
I won’t flood you with facts on how unhealthy men in America are and how it continues to get worse each year.
If you like numbers, my Men’s Health Week segment has plenty of factoids for you.
Let’s get straight to the point. Exercise has a profound effect on our health and most men aren’t getting enough.
Exercising improves our blood pressure, enhances blood flow to all organs (including our sex organs), and even boosts our testosterone level. (2)

Is your gym routine secure, but your diet is looking a little sloppy? You’re not alone and this is why you should fix it.
A well-balanced diet goes hand in hand with exercise. When I made the switch to a plant-based diet it completely changed my overall health and gym performance.
Sugar, fats, heavy oils, and highly processed foods are far too abundant in our grocery stores. You need to know what is good for you and what to avoid. Foods saturated in fats, sugar, and artificial ingredients kill our testosterone. They all clog up our blood vessels and have a negative impact on our sexual health.
Remember guys, it takes blood to make a boner. Clean up your diet. Clean up your blood vessels. Enjoy your libido.
Last But Not Least, Stress.
Half the time, we don’t realize how stressed we’ve been until our fist is through a wall. Yikes.
Stress affects us all differently. Luckily, there’s a proven way in which we can lower our stress while simultaneously increasing our libido.
The secret weapon gents is yoga.
Men have mistakenly coined yoga as a female-only environment for decades. That’s all history now.
Yoga is perfect for men. You’ll learn how to release all the stress you unknowingly carry, but you’ll put that stress into a killer workout. Don’t think it’s a workout? Think again and step into a yoga class and try to tell me it didn’t challenge you. I promise you won’t.
The art of yoga promotes healthy breathing patterns, improved blood circulation, and enhanced relaxation with energy production.
These 10 yoga poses have been praised for their incredible libido-boosting benefits
-
Cat/Cow
Use this particular movement at the beginning of your yoga practice. It works great for any movement-based exercise.
The up and down motion from your spine to your pelvis imitates identical movements during sex. Your pelvis and hip complex will be warmed up with blood flow and simultaneously relaxed and stretched.
-
Happy Baby
You will love the playful and youthful position that is ‘happy baby’.
This pose is great for targeting your lower back and spine while also opening up your hips. Use this one especially if you sit at a desk all day and have a poor hip range of motion. Strong hips with flexibility are key for getting into those ‘deeper’ sex positions.
-
Eagle Pose
Don’t worry if you struggle with this one, in the beginning. Most people, myself included, do.
Don’t give up. Practice it daily and it’ll come easier. Once you get to the correct position, squeeze your inner thighs together. Use your adductor muscles to really tighten towards the middle.
Think of that final squeeze at the end of your orgasm. Refer to the Kama Sutra on its use if needed.
-
Downward Facing Dog
You’ll really enjoy the deep posterior leg stretch you get from ‘downward facing dog’.
Don’t feel uncomfortable with your ass in the air either. Isn’t that what sex is all about?
Take the time to find comfort in this position. Focus on deep breaths. Allow your back legs to get a good stretch all the way through your glutes.
-
Lotus Pose
Use the Lotus Pose if your inner thighs tend to stiffen up, or “lock-up”. Focus on not only stretching your inner thighs but lengthening your spine upwards.
Combine this pose with your daily meditation practice. You can loosen up your pelvis while also loosening up your mind.
-
Butterfly Pose
Utilize the Butterfly Pose if you find that the Lotus Pose is too challenging.
Start with this position to start stretching your hips and pelvis before getting into a deeper stretch with the Lotus Pose. Your hips and groin will thank you over time as you practice this stretch regularly.
Always engage your hips with sexual activity and movements. The focus is to draw the blood not only to your muscles but also your sexual organs.
-
Runner’s Lunge
You’ll like the added challenge of stability this one requires.
If balancing isn’t your suit, then use this pose to work on it. Challenge yourself by changing the leg space and the height of your body. This will activate your core and leg strength. You need strong legs and core to continue to elevate your sex game.
-
Frog Pose
I like the difficulty this one brings. You’ll challenge your strength and balance simultaneously.
Continue practicing holding this position longer and longer. The focus and strength needed to support yourself can then be transferred over to various sexual positions. Laying, angled, and vertical positions all benefit from this pose.
-
Plough Pose
Take my advice. Not only is the pose sexually suggestive in nature, but the stretch is one to match.
You may not enjoy it at first due to the positioning of your body. Be careful when first attempting it and SLOWLY ease into. Focus on your breathing and finding comfort in this position. Doing so will only make you want to reenact it more and more.
-
Cobra Pose
You will probably find this one best to finish your yoga routine with.
It’s great for cooling down, stretching your abdomen, and expanding your thoracic cavity. Use it as a time to really get in some deep breathing. Feel your abs and upper pelvic region lengthen as you deepen your breath.
Try these poses out for yourself and let me know how they go!
I’m still in my first year of experiencing yoga, so I will be trying right alongside you.
Here’s to better health, better minds, and better libidos!
